Extract RAR files for free with Free RAR Extract Frog

Free RAR Extract Frog is a skinable extraction tool for RAR-archives that supports spanned archives as well as the decompression of password protected files. The benefits include easy user interface, fast RarZilla engine and its absolutely 100% free.
Compared to ZIP file format which has support built into most operating systems, RAR files are a popular compression format because it produces much smaller archives in roughly the same time. RAR provides a number of advanced features: more convenient multipart (multivolume) archives, tight compression including special solid, multimedia and text modes, strongAES-128 encryption, recovery records helping to repair an archive even in case of physical data damage.
Previously, I have been using WinRaR, a lightweight, flexible, and easy-to-use archiving utility to extract .rar files. Unfortunately, WinRaR is free to try for only 40 days and you have to pay $29 for a single license. Being a cheapskate, i always look for either a cheaper or free alternative. I found Free RAR Extract Frog that can extract .rar files for free. This software is easy to use, but lacks the bells and whistles that advanced users may require. I am not complaining because i just want a basic extraction tool. To unrar a file, i just choose one of the following methods:
- Drag ‘n’ drop the compressed file to the pane and the tool will automatically extract it and save it in the same folder as the original compressed file.
- Right-click on the compressed file and choose ‘Extract’ in the context menu
- Double-click on the compressed file
To speed the decompression process up, Free RAR Extract Frog has the option to define a default output folder or a default password or both. Though this tool is oddly named, but it performs extremely well in extracting RAR files. The only setback is that during installation, it will ask whether you wish to install Ask toolbar, that have no clear relationship to this extractor.
